SUM professor Vladimir Volokh was admitted to the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia

Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Internal Affairs and police general, handed Vladimir Volokh, an honorary employee of the Russian Federal Migration Service and SUM professor, a certificate of membership of the Public Council at the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the first meeting of the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia of the new convocation, certificates were presented to well-known human rights activists, representatives of all-Russian associations and traditional confessions, major media executives, journalists, artists and scientists who made up the Council.

Addressing the participants of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev emphasised that each of them has an active civic position and a desire to contribute to the development of partnerships between police and the population.  He also reminded everyone that from the moment of its creation, the Council has been constantly evolving, responding to social change, refining tasks, expanding powers and improving the legal framework.

The aim of the Public Council­ is to ensure the successful coordination of socially significant interests of citizens, authorities at all levels, public associations, human rights, religious and other organisations to address the most important issues of police activities.  In the Public Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Volokh represents the Institute of Migration and Interethnic Relations and the Commission on Migration Issues and the Social and Cultural Adaptation of Foreign Citizens of the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations.
