SUM Scientists Invited to Competition Aimed at Supporting Joint Russian-Chinese Research Teams

The Russian Science Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China are accepting applications to participate in their first joint competition of scientific projects. SUM research teams working on joint programmes with their Chinese counterparts have also been invited to participate.

Participation is open to international scientific teams working on research in any field listed in the Foundation’s classification index. Each grant issued by the Russian Science Foundation will range from 4 to 6 million rubles per year. The three-year implementation period of the research projects is planned for 2021–2023.

All applications must be submitted both to RSF (by Russian teams) and NSFC (by Chinese teams) in accordance with the rules of the respective foundations.

The projects will be independently reviewed by both the Russian and Chinese sides. Funding will only be provided to teams that are favourably reviewed by experts from both countries.  

In addition to coordinating their own projects, the heads of participating Russian research teams are allowed to manage one project of the Foundation and implement one project of the Foundation at the same time.

Applications for participation can be submitted until 31 July, 2020. The results of the competition will be announced this December.
