Youth Projects for the Harmonisation of International Relations
Representatives of the Department of Youth Policy and Educational Work have taken part in a field workshop titled ‘Modern Practices in the Implementation of Youth Projects Aimed at the Harmonisation of International Relations and Education on Civic Identity’.
The event was held from 25 to 27 September at the Pokrovskoye recreation centre. The workshop was attended by over 100 members of the international friendship clubs of Moscow universities, as well as representatives of public organisations in the fields of international and intercultural interaction. The event was organised by the All-Russian International Youth Union and the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of Moscow.
The workshop started with a lecture from Kantemir Khurtaev, Head of the Civil Society and the Formation of a Civic Nation in Russia all-Russian international youth union. The programme continued with a panel discussion on ‘The Role of Moscow International Friendship Clubs in the Harmonisation of International Relations, the Formation of Civic Identity and Self-Realisation Amongst Today’s Youth’, during which Alexandra Kobylanskaya, Head of the Department of Educational and Cultural Work of the Department of Youth Policy and Educational Work, spoke about the clubs’ role in student life, the activities of the International Friendship Club, and the activities and experiences of club members.
Day 1 closed with a panel discussion on ‘The Role of the National Youth Organisations of Moscow in the Harmonisation of International Relations and the Formation of an All-Russian Civic Identity’, in which attendees listened to speeches from Azat Kazakbayev (Head of the Association of Students and Post-Graduates of Bashkortostan), Ramin Rajabov (coordinator of projects of the Azerbaijani Youth Organisation of Russia), and Yuri Afanasyev (founder of the ‘Brotherhood of Nations’ Centre of Patriotic Education).
The first evening of the workshop featured a gala performance of the Commonwealth Award vocal contest. Amongst the participants were vocalists from SUM’s StuDos creative team, who performed the songs ‘I Will Go With My Horse to the Field at Night’ and ‘Our Russia’. There were also solo performances of ‘Hello Motherland’ (by soloist Ekaterina Gmyrina, with backing vocals from Taisia Zyatikova and Polina Prokhorova), ‘In my Room of Light’ (soloist Alice Isaeva, backing vocals by Kristina Gulida and Darina Garbuz), and ‘I Love You, Russia’ (soloist Anna Kuranova).
Day 2 of the event opened with a workshop on accounting and financial reporting as part of the Youth Project Accelerator. It was hosted by Elena Potapova, expert of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs youth project competitions and expert of the Mayor’s Grants Competition of the Moscow Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of Moscow. The workshop also included a meeting on social design with Maria Slobodskaya, President of the Institute for Civil Society Issues and President of the Young Leaders Foundation.
A panel discussion was held on ‘What It Takes to Become a Successful Leader’, with participation from Sergey Roskoshny (Special Channels Development Director at Mars LLC), Sergey Fokin (winner of the Leaders of Russia 2020 Contest), Timofey Fokin (entrepreneur and super-finalist in the Leaders of Russia 2020 Contest), Alexander Kuznetsov (General Director of Vitbiomed+ LLC), Alexander Kuznetsov (super-finalist in the Leaders of Russia 2020 Contest), and Georgy Kuzin (Managing Partner of KUZIN Asset Consulting & Management). The participants shared their vision of success and how to achieve it.
The panel discussion ‘The Specifics of International Relations in the Russian Federation: Problems and Solutions’ featured speeches from Alexander Ilchenko, (Advisor to the Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs), Varvara Sazhina (Candidate of Social Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of International and Interreligional Relations of The Lomonosov Moscow State University), and Lyudmila Likhopek (Consultant at the Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations of Moscow).
Day 2 closed with project work in small groups with experts followed by a presentation of the film ‘Sister’ (directed by Alexander Galibin, 2019). This is the first Russian film in the Bashkir language to receive wide distribution. It is based on the story ‘Joy of Our House’ by Bashkir national poet Mustay Karim.
Day 3 of the workshop featured a meeting with Magomed Yangiev (Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor and Head of the Spravedlivaya Rossiya group in the Moscow City Duma), in which he discussed the specifics of municipal government and the participation of young people in municipal elections as the start of a political career. The day closed with a summation of events and the awarding of certificates to participants.
