SUM Pre-University. The School of Future Managers of the Digital Age to open in 2020–2021 academic year
In the 2020–2021 academic year, the State University of Management plans to open a Pre-University, the School of Future Managers of the Digital Age. The first phase of work toward the opening is complete.
A commission consisting of SUM Rector Ivan Lobanov; Chairman of the Council of Elders, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation Aleksey Lyalin; SUM Vice Rectors Igor Goncharov and Aleksandr Troitskiy, highly appreciated the quality of the major renovation of the premises and their technical equipment.
Pre-University is a school within a university where students can experience real student life: as well as the school curriculum, they will be able to master specialised subjects. It is expected that SUM’s School of Future Managers of the Digital Age will open its doors to Moscow school students from grades 10–11 in the following two areas: socio-economic and technical (IT). Pre-University is designed for 200 students.
Marina Grigoryeva, Director of SUM’s Pre-University, conducted a detailed tour and gave a presentation of the technical innovations that will be used in the training of high school students,
We will not just have classrooms but laboratories. The fundamental difference is that each classroom is fitted to perform scientific, technical and other experiments and is equipped with transformable furniture—the best solution in today’s conditions. Special attention is paid to IT equipment and the natural science laboratory.
The Pre-University has a free communication area, a space for training sessions, workshops and casual open meetings. In addition to studying in regular classes, students will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives of major IT companies, researchers, business representatives and others. This will make the process of their immersion in both academic life and the environment of representatives of the civil service, business, IT-sphere more effective.
SUM Rector Ivan Lobanov said that the Pre-University management aims to rationally use the existing infrastructure and prepare school students, future students, so that they feel as comfortable as possible in a highly competitive environment.
During the interim evaluation of the progress of the creation of SUM’s School of Future Managers of the Digital Age, the members of the commission discussed the issues regarding education continuity in the implementation of the School – University – Partners strategy, civic education and mentoring development.
