SUM Wins Russian University Media Service 2020 Competition
SUM PR and Promotion Management Division won two categories of the Russian University Media Service 2020 Competition.
On 3 June the Accreditation in Education journal announced the results of the 7th Russian University Media Service competition. SUM PR and Promotion Management Division won in two out of seven categories – Infoleader and Expert – by demonstrating systematic and high-quality media support for the university.
The journal’s assessment criteria included frequency of posts, their quality and content, target range and the quality of visual content. The final scores were used to determine the Top 20 winners in each category.
‘The university’s media support is the online university itself. In this context, the media service’s work focuses on quick responses and providing relevant information and professional coverage,’ commented SUM Prorector Svetlana Malkarova. ‘The university’s transition to remote learning has led to changes in the communication system between divisions, with management assuming the role of comms mediator between different groups of stakeholders, including students, the university’s partners, authorities, professors and administrative staff. This recognition of the work of the university and its employees allows us to set new challenges.’
In addition to working with media content, the specialists at the PR and Promotion Management Division have increased SUM’s presence in national and regional mass media, launched new partner projects and programmes and have been actively promoting SUM’s experts in Russian and international media spaces. This year SUM is planning to launch a student news portal, which aims to showcase creative potential in fields such as journalism, marketing and web design from all years and study programmes.
Background information:
The Russia-wide University Media Service competition has been run by the Accreditation in Education journal since 2013. It aims to increase the transparency of media in the education system and encourage the activities of media services in supporting the image of universities.
