Advanced Technologies in the Upgraded SUM Library
SUM’s upgraded library provides students and teachers with access to the best global resources, such as the Library of Congress, European libraries and the Russian State Library.
The upgraded scientific library was officially opened at the State University of Management on 12 March. The library’s halls are designed based on the latest trends, which are embodied both in the construction of the social space and in advanced digital equipment.
The library has a state-of-the-art studio for recording webinars, online courses and lectures. Teachers and invited experts of the Institute can prepare or broadcast the necessary video material in a single click.
There is a state-of-the-art conference room for seminars, conferences and round tables, the technological equipment of which includes a videoconferencing system as well as all necessary devices for live broadcast to various sites in the university.
‘The library was last upgraded in the 1970s. Since then, much has changed: technology has changed, and the library concept has also evolved. If previously the word “library” meant a book depository with access to the required printed literature, today it is also a digital library with access to digital repositories around the world and a centre of social activity and communication. The upgraded SUM scientific library today meets all the above requirements’,
said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management.
‘For lectures or conferences, the library space is arranged so that it can be easily transformed into an event format.
SUM’s scientific library meets the most demanding audience requirements. Informational and methodological activities are structured in such a way as to inform the visitors about the latest items at least twice a month: we send out thematic digests and informative collections of literature for workshops and conferences. There is a significant share of individual newsletters for the preparation of research papers in Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence and Management in Digital Economy. In the future, we plan to expand the topics of the sections’,
said Karina Ivina, Director of the Scientific Library of SUM.
