Beginning of the academic year for foreigners
The academic year for international students will start on time.
There are no plans to postpone the start of the 2020/21 academic year for international students to a later date. Further decisions will depend on the epidemiological situation in a particular region of the Russian Federation.
Now citizens of Turkey, great Britain, Tanzania, Switzerland, Abkhazia, as well as persons with a residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence in the above countries can return to Russia. They will be able to start training after fulfilling all the recommendations of the Rospotrebnadzor, including passing a two-week quarantine and passing a test for the presence of coronavirus.
For those foreign students who will not be able to return to the beginning of classes, the Ministry of education and science of Russia, together with Russian universities, is working on various formats for the beginning of the academic year, including distance learning.
In the 2019/20 academic year, about 300 thousand foreign students from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, China, Ukraine, India and other countries studied in Russia.
In many Russian universities, the educational program was quickly re-compiled in a new online format specifically for foreign students.
