‘Information Systems Management’ Online Study
Due to the spread of COVID-19, SUM’s Institute of Information Systems (IIS) is continuing its research in a new remote format.
Vladimir Godin, Doctor of Economics and Professor in the Information Systems Department, conducted a webinar on Information Systems Management on the MyWebinar platform. The webinar was aimed at 4th-year Business Informatics students at SUM’s IIS.
Participants were divided into four research teams of 4–5 people. Within their teams, students represented enterprises from specific industries. Each team conducted a study of the performance of the enterprise and its information systems within four types of economies:
- conventional
- digital
- platform
- digital ecosystem.
The research teams analysed the selected enterprises in terms of conventional, digital, platform and digital ecosystem business.
Participants were invited to:
- build an information profile of the enterprise and develop DFD and ePC-models for its principal activities;
- evaluate the supporting role of IT, IT as a restructuring resource, IT as a digital transformation technology and emerging business models of the selected enterprise;
- analyse the possible types of management system, the attributes and manifestations of corporate culture and its impact on the applied IT, IS and information pyramid of the enterprise;
- evaluate the potential of the enterprise’s basic and advanced digital transformation technologies, including the internet, social networks, online social resources, mobile devices, mobile applications, big data analytics, cloud computing, the internet of things, edge computing, blockchain, AI, machine learning, digital twins, virtual and augmented reality, human-machine interaction and digital transformation scenarios for a second enterprise;
- study the economic and technological prerequisites for transforming a company into a platform company;
- propose an IS architecture for the respective platform company;
- analyse the economic and technological prerequisites for a digital economy and transforming a company into a digital ecosystem;
- introduce roles and objectives for participants in the digital ecosystem and their IT and IS as well as suggest an IS architecture for the respective digital ecosystem.
Following the webinar, students of SUM’s IIS will prepare applications for the annual Russia-wide ‘Management Challenges 2020’ student conference held by the State University of Management.
