International Research Project by the State University of Management and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Wins RFBR Grant
The Logistics Department of the State University of Management has won the competition for the best fundamental research projects. Its international research project aims at designing programmes for the development of logistics and prospects for the development of logistics relations between Russia and Vietnam.
The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) has supported the application submitted by the Logistics Department of the State University of Management for the contest of the best fundamental research projects conducted jointly by the RFBR and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. The subject of the application was Methodological Foundations for Building and Developing National Logistics Systems in Russia and Vietnam in the Light of Their Multifactor Interaction.
The State University of Management has a long and fruitful relationship with the academic and scientific community of Vietnam. The Department of Logistics has been cooperating with Vietnamese colleagues from VASS (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) for more than two years. Over this time, three applications were submitted to RFBR, one of which was supported by the Foundation.
The work of the Vietnamese colleagues is directed by Dr Nguyen An Ha, Director of Institute for European Studies (IES). Do Ta Khanh, the Director of the Centre for EU (EU, Russia and the CIS) Studies, is also on the team.
From the Russian side, the staff of the Logistics Department (Doctor of Economics, Professor Boris Anikin; PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Ivan Yermakov; PhD in Economics Svetlana Kuzminykh) is also enhanced by the participation of Doctor of Economics, Professor Oleg Anikin and Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Nguyen Quang Thuong, who played an important role in preparing the material for the application and establishing scientific contacts.
The study will focus on the following topics:
- Studying the theoretical framework in order to systematise the approaches to defining the national logistics system (NLS)
- Classifying methods of development, design, re-engineering, NLS management
- Studying the negative impact of the underdeveloped NLS on the economies of Vietnam and Russia, identifying the main negative factors
- Compiling applied recommendations for ensuring the effective interaction between the NLS of Russia and Vietnam
- Developing the methods and determining the economic and other effects of improving the interaction between the NLS of Russia and Vietnam
The expected outcome of the study is expressed as a theory for creating and developing national logistics systems as well as a methodology for designing, improving and ensuring the interaction between the NLS of Russia and Vietnam. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the developed methods and the obtained results can be applied in designing programmes for the development of logistics activities and in furthering the prospects for the development of logistics relations between Russia and Vietnam as well as in preparing and implementing the national socio-economic development strategies and programmes of both countries.
