Kick-off meeting of the International Scientific and Educational Consortium ‘Workforce for a Green Economy’
The State University of Management has been invited to participate in the Consortium as a leader in the environmental and green management education.
On 12 March, the Academic Council Hall of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia hosted the kick-off meeting of the International Scientific and Educational Consortium ‘Workforce for a Green Economy’ chaired by PFUR Rector Vladimir Filippov. In his opening address, he emphasised the need for fundamental modernisation of specialists’ training in environmental policy, nature management, as well as for the introduction of engineering ecology methods by launching universal interdisciplinary innovative educational programmes of environmental content in various fields of natural sciences and the humanities.
The event brought together representatives of the scientific and educational communities, business, government and public organisations. It featured more than 20 reports and presentations on the key objectives and prospects of the Consortium.
Svetlana Kiseleva, professor, PhD in Economics, head of the Section ‘Environment and Technosphere Safety and Environmental Management’ of Department of Economics and Management in the Energy Industry at SUM, took an active part in the meeting and in the preparation of the documents. Professor Kiseleva made a presentation ‘On the Creation and Development of Basic Departments as Ideological Centres of Complex Environment-Oriented Education in the Consortium-Member Universities’.
Olga Prudnikova, Director of the Department for Administrative Affairs and Personnel Policy at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Sergey Alexeev, Chairman of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for Natural Resources and Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Vladislav Zhukov, member of the Council on Agro-Industrial Complex and Natural Resources Management under the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, also addressed the need for collaboration in the area of training for the Green Economy.
They discussed the initiative of creating the Consortium, the Statute of the Consortium and the 2020–2021 Consortium Work Plan. As a result, the participants approved the Road Map of the Consortium activities for 2020–2021, the Chairman of the Trustee Council and the Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Consortium. Besides, they agreed to continue involving universities, scientific centres and businesses in the Consortium.
Background information:
The consortium aims to integrate the educational, scientific and technological potential of the participants. This contributes to the formation of a state-of-the-art, efficient system for training qualified personnel, which promotes the sustainable innovative development of the resource- and energy-saving economy of Russia, based on environmentally-oriented technological systems.
