Practical Training for Content Management Systems (CMS) Development at SUM
SUM Institute of IT Systems continues to coordinate scientific and practical student projects. Project activities help young researchers work on technological solutions, help their personal development and increase their efficiency and the skills necessary in business and work.
Mariya Belousova, Scientific Work Deputy Director at the Institute of IT Systems conducted a scientific and practical seminar. During the seminar the students learned about content management systems, such as Joomla, WordPress, DruPal and others. Another subject was technological and instrumental capabilities of information systems for creating portal solutions, in particular programming language PHP, MySQL-server, Apache web-server, phpMyAdmin for MySQL tables creation, HTML, CSS, Java Script. The students acquired the knowledge and skills required for successfully implementing their own IT projects.
Currently, students from the Institute of IT Systems are working on their own projects. The subject is ‘Development of an Advanced Projects Portal for Providing Interaction Between the University’s Business and Scientific Community’.
The portal includes two modules: a database of advanced projects and a search system.
The main tasks of the project:
- development and implementation of a database of advanced projects
- user notifications of past and upcoming scientific and professional conferences, seminars and round table discussions
- signing up for workshops
- development and implementation of a search engine for ICT projects (researches)
- consulting using IT solutions
The project work helps young researchers develop professional skills and elaborate a technological algorithm from problem formulation, from forming a concept to creating a commercial product – an IT start-up. While working on their projects, the students also learn how to present their solutions to potential investors.
