Session ‘Digital Population Census: Technologies and Tools’ at SUM
In October 2020 Russia will carry out the Russian Population Census (VPN) 2020, and for the first time it will use digital technologies. The State University of Management is the project office of VPN-2020.
On 3 March the State University of Management will host the International Research-to-Practice Conference ‘Smart Nations: Global Trends in the Digital Economy’ that will feature a session ‘Digital Population Census: Technologies and Tools’. The key topics for discussion will include the global experience in the use of telecommunications tools in conducting censuses and the features of digital technologies in VPN 2020. The session will also include a meeting with representatives from Rosstat, the international community, SUM technological partners and leading Russian telecom companies with a view to their participation in the VPN 2020 projects as partners.

. The Russian Population Census is an important event that can be used not only to assess the current state of all spheres of life in the country but also to plan its socio-economic development for the next decade.
In 2020 the census will be conducted for the first time in digital form. Paper census sheets will be replaced by tablets, and hand-counting will be replaced by the Population digital analytical platform.
The State University of Management is a longstanding partner of the Federal Service for State Statistics and has regularly provided methodological and analytical support for statistical research. As part of the first digital Russian Census, SUM will be responsible for methodological training, expert and analytical support, monitoring and subsequent analysis of census results.
