State University of Management to Present Its Projects at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris

The UNESCO Chair on Societal, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Societies at SUM will present its projects during Mobile Learning Week at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Mobile Learning Week will start on 2 March at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Artificial Intelligence and Inclusion’.

It will feature various events focusing on the use of AI to ensure safe access to high-quality education for everyone.

The UNESCO Chair on Societal, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Societies SUM is led by SUM Rector and Head of the UNESCO Chair Ivan Lobanov and SUM Vice Rector and Director of UNESCO Chair Svetlana Malkarova. They are to present projects on three different topics during Mobile Learning Week.

The global goal of Smart Nations: An Economy of Digital Equality is to present SUM’s ‘Stepping into the Future’ international scientific forum as a platform to discuss important aspects of AI, technology and the impact they have on all sectors of society.

The MODEL UNESCO project will be introduced as part of a presentation entitled SMART NATIONS MODEL UNESCO: Innovative Solutions by Russian Students for the AI Agenda. MODEL was implemented during the 3rd ‘Stepping into the Future’ international scientific forum on 10 December 2019. Students from a number of Russian universities came together to complete key objectives of the UNESCO strategy, including promoting freedom of expression, media development and ensuring universal access to information and knowledge.

Digital Volunteers for Affordable Education is an open digital educational platform from the specialists of SUM’s UNESCO Chair on Social, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Society in 2019. The goal of the project is to provide people with opportunities to expand their knowledge and offer career-building assistance. It is designed to help both people who haven’t chosen a career yet and those who want to continue along their current professional path.

‘Continuous self-learning is essential in many professional fields. For example, Russian academics involved in international research and conferences need an equally good command of both Russian and English terminology in their field. The Digital Volunteers platform can provide courses centred around a specific area, such as medical or technical English’,

explains SUM Vice Rector and Director of the UNESCO Chair Svetlana Malkarova.

Mobile Learning Week events include workshops, symposiums and forums featuring presentations of innovative policies, research, projects and mobile learning programmes. The conference will be moderated by representatives from a wide range of international and non-governmental organisations, government bodies and academic institutions involved in the implementation of digital skills development programmes.

The conference programme is available here.

About:

Mobile Learning Week (MLW) is a flagship UN event on digital education technology organised by UNESCO and its partners. The event, now in its ninth year, provides a global platform for showcasing promising applications and practices in the implementation of AI to promote inclusivity and equality in education. The main topic of discussion is ensuring that the AI revolution does not further widen digital and gender gaps or cause inequality in obtaining access to high-quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
