The SUM team entered the TOP-50 at the All-Russian Online Championship for Management and Entrepreneurship

The Apel`sin State University of Management team entered the TOP 50 in the All-Russian Online Championship for Management and Entrepreneurship, taking 31st place among 850 teams representing 180 Russian universities. 

The first All-Russian Business University games of the Simformer Management Cup 2019 is a federal online management and entrepreneurship championship for students and teachers of Russian universities, business schools and colleges. The event was held in two stages: qualifying and final.

The first qualifying stage was a 12-day business game with daily rounds. Each participating team was given a virtual company to manage in such a way that demonstrates the maximum profit growth and market share of the business. Competitors and partners in the virtual economic environment were not only computer algorithms but also thousands of live participants, thereby creating a competitive business environment as close to reality as possible. Only 50 of the most creative and strategically advanced teams passed this stage.

I enjoyed watching the participants of this event because they were idea-driven, goal-oriented and strongly committed to changing the world! I don’t believe that there is a formula for individual success; success is nurtured by a cohesive team of people united by a common idea, a shared faith that can change the world for the better,

said Nikolay Gusev, captain of the Apel`sin team.

In the final stage, the participants had to undergo an eight-hour business quest in increments of one hour. The 50 finalists had to manage an economic ‘titanic’ on the verge of bankruptcy. The task was to lead the company out of this situation and ensure a sustainable future. To do this, players had to demonstrate marketing and financial analysis skills, be able to manage all the company’s key business processes and apply analytical and creative talents in developing strategies and tactics for the development of their virtual business. The SUM team finished in 31st place.
