Working Meeting of SUM Rector Ivan Lobanov with the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov
On 22 May Rector of the State University of Management Ivan Lobanov held a working meeting with the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov. Topics of discussion included the organisation of the educational process at SUM through the use of distance-learning technologies, the development of the University’s own electronic information and education environment and the scientific activity conducted by the University under these new conditions. The meeting focused on the topic of strategic planning and management training in the digital age.
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov declared the State University of Management’s transition to remote education a success. To date, SUM has conducted 9,456 lectures, 617 laboratory training classes and 12,584 practical classes in the online format. Interaction between professors, students and postgraduate students in all forms of education is facilitated by their personal accounts. The University is also successfully implementing third-party online platforms. Furthermore, the University has introduced the ‘Digital Unified Dean’s Office’ system.
Ivan Lobanov also told Valery Falkov about the University’s R&D projects aimed at improving the efficiency of resource management in the development of digital technologies. During their discussion of SUM’s achievements, the parties decided that the University should continue following its current educational path, which is aimed at providing professional managerial training in various fields in the era of digital economy and AI technologies. Particular attention will be devoted to developing the leadership potential of students and supporting their initiatives.
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov also expressed his support for the State University of Management’s initiative to host the International Scientific Forum ‘Step into the Future’. This will be the fourth year the event is held. The role of the Ministry, which will act as a strategic partner of SUM, will be significantly different this time. The development trajectory of the Forum will also change. This year, the running of the event will be aided by a high level of technological sophistication and will allow participants to consider the development of the information society and AI.
