SUM Professors to Present Their Works at the Data Science Conference

Professors from the Statistics Department of the State University of Management are to present a report titled ‘The Development of a Methodology for Multivariate Statistical Analysis of the Digital Readiness of a Region’ at the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) as part of the International Scientific and Practical Conference Data Science. The conference will run on 4–7 February 2020.

The Data Science conference will see representatives of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, the Committee for Science and Higher Education of Saint Petersburg, the Committee for Social Policy of the Government of Saint Petersburg, the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Russian universities examine trends in development and practical work in the fields of database design, new technologies for bulk data collection and verification, modelling and predictive analytics, big data and AI, evaluation methods and results of statistical literacy and more.

Marina Yefimova, Yekaterina Dolgikh and Tatyana Pershina, professors in the Statistics Department at the State University of Management, will give a report on the topic ‘The Development of a Methodology for Multivariate Statistical Analysis of Digital Readiness of a Region’ as part of the Information and IT: the Basis of the Digital Economy section.

Data Science is a vast field combining several related disciplines: programming, mathematics, statistics, business analytics and machine learning. The field’s data analysis specialists work with large amounts of data to extract useful information. This is a new field that has only emerged in recent years, but it has already created lucrative positions in a large number of Russian and international companies.
