Alumni Reunion at Turn of Century
On 25 October 2019, graduates from several generations gathered at the State University of Management to recollect their student years, assess the changes that have taken place in the university and share their professional and personal achievements.
Over 150 alumni attended the reunion. The university’s new projects were presented to them, such as the LabBee laboratory of digital marketing, which allows students to solve real business challenges and exploit marketing and advertising products as well as technologies the mobile carrier Beeline uses for data collection and analysis; the Laboratory at the SUM’s IT Centre with the ISU system of human emotion recognition; Boiling Point, a modern innovative space for teamwork and intellectual interaction between science, education, business and government, aimed at the elaboration of development projects.
Professor Aleksey Lyalin, Head of the Council of Elders, Doctor of Economics, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, noted in his welcoming speech that, despite the rapid development of technologies, the heart of the University is still the people; first and foremost, teachers, students and graduates,
I am very glad that the wonderful tradition of alumni reunions lives on. The building gets renovated, the laboratories revamped, but we all form the heart of the university—its teachers, students and graduates. And I would love to see you more often. I hope this spirit will live on in all those who come here to study and meet in the 101st year of the State University of Management!
The alumni took great pleasure in filling out the ‘opportunities board’, exchanging contacts, taking photos as souvenirs, featuring in the university’s video chronicles and recalling their teachers with deep gratitude.

The knowledge base offered at the SUM serves as a basis for development and self-fulfilment. In 2018, I also completed a postgraduate course at the SUM and obtained a teacher-researcher qualification. I would like to thank our teachers for giving us all a start in life!
In addition, the Association of SUM Alumni, the organiser of the reunion, treated the event participants to an insightful tour of the Museum of History and Development of Management, with an exhibition dedicated to the development of state administration in Russia, the history of the management industry and important stages of the university’s history.
The Association of SUM Alumni will be promoting reunions of the university’s family in the future and the formation of a professional community of graduates by creating opportunities for their self-fulfilment and participation in the development of the university.
We are confident that by uniting the graduates the Association will assist in the strengthening of the community of like-minded people, partners and friends of the SUM and contribute to the implementation of their projects.
