Acceleration of Innovation

The State University of Management and the Moscow Technological University of Communications and Informatics are to summarise the results of the 1st Inter-University Student Hackathon. The event was held between students of the institutions with the goal of identifying promising tech projects for subsequent acceleration.  

On the 25th of April, the State University of Management organised the 1st Inter-University Student Hackathon in association with the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics. The 18 participating teams in the competition defended their projects before experts and a jury. The main criteria used to assess the projects included relevance, novelty and the level of development of their application.

Based on the results of the defences, first place was awarded to two projects:

I SEE YOU: An intelligent facial and emotion recognition system utilising neural network technology and biometric data analysis (SUM).

ALSET: Disease diagnosis based on electrocardiography of patients. This technology reduces the workload of medical staff and the number of tests necessary to make accurate diagnoses. As such, the project can cut both the time and financial costs of medical examinations and subsequent patient treatment (MTUCI).

Members of the winning teams were awarded certificates of merit and valuable prizes from the administrations of both universities. Each of the 18 projects will receive advice and expert support from SUM’s Student Project Accelerator and will take part in ‘Stepping into the Future’, an annual international conference due to be held in December 2020.

The defence of the projects has demonstrated that a number of technologies and solutions used at different universities can complement each other, which allows students to unite their teams in the name of inter-university cooperation.
