Day 8. SUM Team at the Ostrov 10–22 Intensive Course
Over the week-long Ostrov 10–22 the State University of Management leadership has signed 8 partnership agreements with a number of Russian universities. The SUM team is negotiating regular partnerships with the National University of Science and Technology MISiS and the Chuvash State University.
In their presentation at the Tochka Kipeniya (Boiling Point) lab Nikolay Kuznetsov, Director of the SUM Institute of Economics and Finance, together with Professor Pavel Terelyansky shared their ideas on organising the university’s own Tochka Kipeniya. In a fairly limited amount of time our colleagues were able to elaborate and present a design project of a university lab in line with the latest trends in learning space design.
In his workshop titled Managing Land with Space Images of the Earth, Vladimir Linnik, Professor at the SUM Department of Economics and Management in Energy Sector, presented his perspective on creating a gas flaring detection service based on data collected through remote sensing in the oil and gas industry. Vladimir Linnik discussed issues arising from the everyday use of space images and geoportals by companies, organisations and institutions working in a variety of spheres such as transport, agriculture, construction and local administration.
Concluding the discussion, Vladimir Gershenzon, founder of SCANEX and expert in Earth remote sensing, suggested establishing a joint space sensing laboratory together with the State University of Management and Saratov State University.
