Dmitry Razbegaev: It is better to learn from the mistakes of others, because it is much cheaper

Graduate of the Higher School of Business of the State University of Management, business coach, mentor, partner of 1HStudy — school of modern management, project manager of Unit Consulting and member of the expert council of Crisis Manager magazine Dmitry Razbegaev told students of the State University of Management about the right ways to start own business, how to stay motivated and overcome difficulties.

Why can a huge crush on an idea ruin a business? How important is it to control your emotions so that they do not win over logic? How to properly assess the risks and select the team? How to manage finances at the startup launch? The answers to these questions were analysed in detail using case studies, life situations, successful and wrong decisions by business owners and managers during Dmitry Razbegaev’s workshop “StartUp: Top 10 Mistakes and How to Avoid Them” arranged by the Department of Banking and Entrepreneurship in partnership with state institution Small Business of Moscow. Such cases help students gain knowledge and employ it in the future. In his speech, the business trainer especially focused on the simple truth: “It is better to learn from the mistakes of others, because it is much cheaper.”

The speaker paid attention to the topic of business motivation and shared success stories that inspired the audience, showed how important it is not to give up on failures and believe in a dream.

It is common knowledge that proper time management is an important driver of a successful business: “The most important resource you will need in this life is time. But, unfortunately, this is the only resource that runs out for good.  So invest it properly,” said the speaker.

After the workshop, we had a chance to talk with Dmitry. He pointed out the SUM students have a good grounding and are involved in the work during the training: “I really enjoy it when students respond to cases and are involved in the process. Energy and time are their main resource.” Dmitry Razbegaev also emphasised that the sooner the young people start their own business, the sooner they make mistakes, the sooner they succeed.

The workshop “StartUp: Top 10 Mistakes and How to Avoid Them” was held as part of the project by Small Business of Moscow aimed at supporting and developing youth entrepreneurship in Moscow. It is especially nice when the speakers are graduates of the Higher School of Business of the State University of Management.
