HBS SUM on the map of Russian and CIS business school internationalisation
Expert Analytical Centre has completed its third investigation into CIS business school’s international visibility. The latest research was named ‘The map of Russian and CIS Business School Internationalisation in 2019’.
HBS SUM still remains in the group of business schools that keep actively moving into the international market.
The previous study named ‘Global Business School Ranking in Russia and CIS’ was conducted in 2017 and included 22 Russian schools. Since that study, the Higher School of Business at SUM has been included in the ranking’s second most important group—a group of 15 schools ‘actively moving into the global market’.
The concept of the study was no different in 2019; the analysis of international visibility of CIS business schools is still its primary goal. The study describes the criteria and methods employed to assess how high the schools should be placed in the ranking. One of the basic criteria the study takes into account is whether a business school has one or more institutional or programmatic international accreditations granted by an independent agency (EFMD, AACSB, AMBA, CEEMAN, EQUIS, EPAS) based on a comprehensive evaluation of the school’s performance.
Since 2014, the MBA programme of HBS SUM has passed the strict AMBA procedures with aplomb, proving that the curriculum, research and services provided by the business school are of high quality and comply with international standards.
Despite the fact that there are significantly more schools accredited by AMBA than AACSB, EPAS or EQUIS, according to AMBA’s internal statistics, only one in seven contenders is granted accreditation (!!!).
Aside from accreditation, Expert Analytical Centre also applies additional criteria, taking into account the current strategy applied by schools to move into the international market, as well as their visibility in the global educational space, to categorize the business schools into three groups:
- international business schools;
- business schools actively moving into the international market due to their accreditation and partnerships or research activity;
- business schools visible on the international market with a currently undetermined strategy.
HBS SUM confidently takes its place in the second group, along with fifteen top business schools in Russia.
