Infrastructure of the New Economy. Digital Industry Map. The Formula of Global Competitiveness

On 9 December participants of the 3rd International Scientific Forum Stepping Into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy. Smart Nations. Economy of Digital Equality met at a business session ‘Infrastructure of New Economy. Digital Industry Map’. The topic of the event was chosen for a reason. Digital technologies are rapidly proliferating into all spheres of life today and are changing the usual models of economic and social order of countries. On the wave of this trend, the world’s leading countries are focusing on digitalisation of the economy in order to maintain their dominant positions. The same applies to Russia, where the development of a digital economy has been determined as priority area of public policy and is considered a prerequisite for competitiveness in the modern global market.

Participants to business session discussed the introduction of digital economy principles into high-tech industrial production, opportunities and challenges associated with digital transformation of Russian industry, technological re-equipment, the adoption of new service-oriented models, training of highly qualified personnel etc.

It is important for us to ensure that specialists who graduate from higher education institutions are in demand from employers with the knowledge and skills that universities have provided them with.
We often hear complaints from our industry partners that university graduates require further retraining or teaching additional skills for them to be able to join the production process. It is crucial that every university, including the State University of Management, provide students with maximum competencies. This task is very ambitious and relevant for today’s Russian education. We are actively pursuing this path,

said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management.

Event participants agreed that for a business to survive in the era of the digital economy, technological development and constant change, it has to be able to adapt, which involves creating innovative business models and reinforcing/rethinking traditional ones. The digital economy is the basis for the development of modern competitive businesses.

Our task is to encourage businesses to invest in transformation. Having skilled personnel for a digital economy is very important. Here, we fully support the initiative of the State University of Management. Nowadays, the individual core of the digital economy is shifting toward academic science, which will help secure the link between science and the digital economy and introduce new teaching methods and new professions. Understanding and envisioning the work of the future today are the key to successful transformation,

said Mikhail Mamonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia.

During discussion of regional industrial policy development, the business session participants noted that digital transformation in Russia is inconceivable without the participation of the regions as it is an integral part of a comprehensive regional development strategy.

We estimate the digital upgrade in Kaluga Region to be 40%. Our region was one of the first to participate in the Smart City programme. To meet the new challenges of digitalisation and the creation of production sites, among other things, new centres of excellence are being created. The first IT classes and a Yandex Lyceum have been launched in Kaluga. The regional administration uses new control systems for services that are particularly important from a social point of view,

said Peter Aldakov, representative of Kaluga Region under the Government of the Russian Federation.

As part of the business session ‘Infrastructure of New Economy. Digital Industry Map’, the State University of Management signed two agreements with the All-Russian Public Organisation Delovaya Rossiya and the Association of Clusters and Technology Parks of Russia for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including the organisation and conduct of practical training of university students with possible subsequent employment.

I would like to give this present to the State University of Management. Our journal is a business guidebook dedicated to the systematic analysis of the investment climate in Russia’s special economic zones. It can help determine the current demands and challenges that the education sector faces in terms of training specialists and acquiring the necessary skills and competencies,

said Andrey Shpilenko, Director of the Association of Clusters and Technology Parks of Russia.

The 3rd International Scientific Forum Stepping into the Future. Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy continued its work at the plenary session.
