Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management, Proposes to Create Network of University Libraries Conforming to Model Standards
A Meeting of the Heads of the Federal and Central Regional Libraries of Russia was held in the Russian State Library. During the meeting, Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management (SUM), proposed to create a network of university libraries that meet model standards and offer conveniently organised library space and the wide use of modern digital technologies.
A Meeting of the Heads of the Federal and Central Regional Libraries of Russia was held in the Russian State Library on 22 October. The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library and the Russian National Library.
The meeting was opened by Olga Yarilova, Deputy Minister for Culture of the Russian Federation. Ms. Yarilova greeted the participants on behalf of the Minister for Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinskiy and spoke about the implementation of the National Project on Culture.
We want libraries to become centres for the development of children, young people and all other categories of citizens,
emphasised the Deputy Minister for Culture.
Vadim Duda, Director General of the Russian State Library, welcomed the participants on behalf of the receiving institution. Mr. Duda spoke about the importance of interaction between the libraries and the communities of readers and publishers:
Ecosystems are a very important trend these days. Surviving on your own can be very hard in today’s world. Community members need to stay united; deep respect for each other and for everyone’s interests is the key here.
In a solemn ceremony, two cooperation agreements crucial for the entire professional community were signed: one between the Russian State Library and the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the other between the Russian State Library and the State University of Management.
Within the framework of the Agreement, the SUM has launched a Master’s programme in Digital Library Project Management. The Russian State Library will, in turn, provide resources for classes and workshops to be conducted by leading specialists and experts in the field.
During the meeting, Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management (SUM), proposed to create a network of university libraries that meet model standards and offer conveniently organised library space and the wide use of modern digital technologies.
The Library of the State University of Management is able to share its experience in creating a model library and provide the necessary advice on building a network for our partners,
said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the State University of Management.
