Main events of the week at IIM

The SUM Institute of Industrial Management witnessed a high number of events from 20 April to 30 April. Students and professors of the institute have been busy presenting their research projects at conferences and round tables, developing research strategies and discussing corporate social responsibility issues. We have prepared an overview of the most interesting events held at the institute.

The 28th All-Russian Student Conference ‘Management Challenges 2020’

Industries Management: Challenges and Prospects

29 April, in support of the 28th All-Russian Student Conference ‘Management Challenges 2020’, the Institute of Industrial Management organised the work of the panel ‘Industries Management: Challenges and Prospects’. A total of 74 applications from three universities have been submitted for participation in the discussion. Master’s, bachelors and associate professors have presented their research highlighting the current issues related to industry transformation in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Webinar ‘Distance Teaching: Advantages and Opportunities’

23 April Doctor of Economics and Associate Professor of the Department of Innovation Management Victoria Degtyaryova as a guest expert held a webinar ‘Distance Teaching: Advantages and Opportunities’ organised by the Association of Global Universities. At the seminar, she discussed the tools utilised by universities to facilitate the transition to distance learning, which can be applied in practice after the pandemic is over. Webinar: ‘Management Solutions for Transportation and Logistics amid the Pandemic’

30 April SUM’s Tochka Kipeniya hosted Lectures on the Transportation Industry, where Oleg Kozhushko, Passenger Air Traffic Controller at Aeroflot PJSC, held a seminar titled ‘Management Solutions for Transportation and Logistics amid the Pandemic’. He discussed with the students the state of transportation and logistics amid the pandemic and the various challenges that companies are facing.

Online Research-Practical Conference ‘Modern Development Trends of Science and Project Management Practices’  

24 April the institute held a regular meeting of the Research-Practical Conference ‘Modern Development Trends of Science and Project Management Practices’ with the participation of professors from the Project Management Department, students and young scientists aspiring to initiate their potential for creativity and innovation. During the meeting participants discussed a wide range of topics related to the latest achievements in the field of project management and studies evaluating the influence of sector-specific traits on management systems and processes within organisations.

The 2nd All-Russian Research-Practical Conference ‘Current Trends in the Development of Russia’s Investment Potential’     

21 April the Department of Economics and Construction Management with the support and participation of the National Union of Technological and Price Audit held the 2nd All-Russian Research-Practical Conference ‘Current Trends in the Development of Russia’s Investment Potential’. The event was attended by representatives of the Union as well as professors and students from SUM. Representatives of the National Union made a presentation on ‘Prospects for the Development of Technological and Price Audit in Russia’. During the discussion participants addressed issues related to investment, innovative technologies, digitalisation and artificial intelligence in other sectors of the economy as well as the modern challenges of project management and marketing activities in Russia.

Round table: ‘Prospects for the Development of Investment and Construction Activities in Russia’  

22 April the Department of Economics and Construction Management with the support and participation of the National Union of Technological and Price Audit held a round table on ‘Prospects for the Development of Investment and Construction Activities in Russia’. Participants in the event included scientists, leading auditors and members of the National Union of Technological and Price Audit (including international specialists from AEKOM, NEO Centre and other auditing companies), the banking community (Sberbank) as well as SUM professors.

On behalf of the National Union, Elena Milovidova, CEO of the association, reported on the current trends and measures of support to construction activities, citing industry statistics and the long-term plan of the Russian Ministry of Construction as well as discussing the support measures taken by the government and their value in the current situation. In addition, the round table addressed such important topics as the analysis of construction contracts signed between general contractors and credit organisations and price audit being the tool for monitoring investments at all phases of the construction life cycle.

Round Table: ‘Mechanisms for Effective Interactions between the Government, Businesses and Universities in a Crisis Situation’

23 April the Engineering Business Management Department held a round table with the participation of professors, bachelor’s and master’s students and business representatives on the topic ‘Mechanisms for Effective Interactions between the Government, Businesses and Universities in a Crisis Situation’. Participants of the event presented the latest analytical reviews, studies and reports on the state of Russian industry amid the pandemic. The round table addressed the current challenges facing companies from various industries and shared their forecasts regarding the further development of the crisis facing the country and the world.

Online Conference: ‘Research and Education Strategy of the Department’

24 April the Chair of the Department of Management Theory and Organisation Viktor Antonov, Associate Professor Mikhail Samosudov and other department professors held a discussion on the current challenges facing the development of the department’s research activities.

Online Conference: ‘Current Challenges of Corporate Social Responsibility’

20 April Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor Galina Kuzina held a conference at SUM’s Tochka Kipeniya, where students of the department made presentations and discussed the current challenges of corporate social responsibility.
