More than 250 AI and digital economy projects were presented by students of leading Russian universities at the SUM conference

In the run-up to the III International Scientific Forum Stepping into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, participants of the First All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference of Students Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy: the Student View presented more than 250 projects.

On 13 November 2019, more than 300 students from leading Russian universities presented their research on the development of digital technologies in economics and management at SUM’s Tochka Kipeniya (‘Boiling Point’).

The subject of my work is ‘Innovation in Small Business’. I have always been fascinated by this topic because it is small business that reacts quickly to all changes and demands of the environment, that is able to transform and adjust its production and introduce innovations in the shortest possible time. That is why we decided to explore what is happening in this sector. The results demonstrated that over the last five years there has been a steady growth in the implementation of innovations and advanced digital technologies in the small business sector. We noted that the companies that are capable of quickly adapting to current conditions are repaying their loans faster,

said Yuliya Kozhevnikova, a student from the Economics and Finance Institute, State University of Management.

My project is titled ‘Augmented Reality as a Driver of Educational and Scientific Development’. I believe that augmented reality is indispensable for visualising learning material in chemistry, physics, computer science and other disciplines. Studies have shown that most of today’s students use information that is structured not in terms of text but in terms of digital and information technology. For me, the SUM conference is an opportunity to meet like-minded people who want to develop these technologies and are eager to contribute to the development of Russian education,

said Margarita Sevastyanova, a student from the Department of Digital Economy and Information Technologies Faculty, Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.

The conference included plenary and sectional sessions. As part of the plenary session, leading scientists from the State University of Management and Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics presented an analysis of digital economy development issues in Russia and around the world.

All current projects are complex, and their implementation requires combining the potential, knowledge and experience of many scientists and practitioners. This conference helps students find like-minded people to develop their ideas and generate interesting projects together,

said Yuriy Leokhin, Doctor of Engineering, Professor at the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.

The conference’s plenary session was followed by sections and round table discussions:

The Influence of Digital Technologies on Industrial Manufacturing

Artificial Intelligence as a Development Factor for Education and Science

Financial Sector Transformations in a Digital Economy

Countries in the Era of a Digital Economy: from Smart City to Smart Nation

Social and Business Communications in the Era of a Digital Economy

Round table discussion on Digitalisation of University Education: Student View

The conference featured the second Multidisciplinary Hackathon.

All participants of the First All-Russian Student Scientific and Practical Conference Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy: a Student View received certificates, and a collection of reports will be issued.

The best projects will be unveiled at the Third International Scientific Forum Stepping into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy.

For some of the students, the opportunity to present their papers at such a major forum will be not only an opportunity to prove themselves to a scientific audience but may also be a ticket to a future career,

said Vladimir Linnik, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the State University of Management.
