Over 1,000 SUM students take part in 2019 Moscow Students Parade
On 14 September, the team of the State University of Management was one of the largest student groups at the Moscow Students Parade and pleasantly surprised the audience with its performance.
The 2019 Moscow Students Parade was the biggest ever students parade by number of participants, both in Russia and worldwide. The event gathered 30,000 young people, of whom over 1,000 were students of the State University of Management.
To open the parade, first-year students marched along Universitetskiy Prospekt, proceeded to an oath-taking ceremony, received their Moscow-student lapel pins and sang the new anthem, Zachyotnaya Moskva (lit.: Passing-Grade Moscow), in front of the stage on Sparrow Hills.
‘Students from different years of study and different faculties have come here to support the State University of Management. And we also have our graduates join us on this march, proud to carry the flag of our university. Despite some weather surprises, everything has gone as planned, and it all has been incredibly positive’, said Valeriya Megribanova, Chair of the SUM Student Council.
The SUM students have proven once again that they are a strong and energetic team of individuals with high creative potential and a modern way of thinking. Future managers turned the parade into a real spectacle when during their march they created the effect of flickering digital pulses to symbolise the continuous development and implementation of forward-thinking projects by the university’s young scientists.
‘We have all been looking forward to this festival, and we wanted to be creative with our presentation. SUM actively uses digital technology, and that’s why the students decided to mimic the effect of flickering pulses. They used mirrors to achieve that’, remarked Tatyana Simonova, Director of the SUM Training Centre.
The event ended with the ‘Zachyotnaya Moskva’ concert at the observation platform on Sparrow Hills. The concert featured hosts Alla Mikheyeva, Ivan Chuykov, Irena Ponaroshku and Archi and musicians In2Nation, T-Killah and Alexeev, who congratulated first-year students and made the night truly memorable.
Over the course of its century-long history, the State University of Management has established its position as a leader of management education in Russia, providing the necessary environment for developing and implementing innovative IT projects, strategic initiatives and unconventional approaches to solving various tasks across different economy sectors.
