Round Table ‘Measures to Support Small and Medium-sized Businesses Under COVID-19 Threat: Students’ View’

At the State University of Management, a round table discussion was held on the measures to support small and medium-sized businesses under COVID-19 threat. Students of the Innovation programme presented their take on the solution to the issue. The best works will be presented at the 28th All-Russian Student Conference ‘Management Problems 2020.’

The round table was organised for SUM’s Tochka Kipeniya as a Zoom-based online conference, spearheaded by Viktoriya Degtyaryova, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Innovation Management. Yekaterina Kamchatova, Head of the Department of Innovation Management, Doctor of Economic Sciences, acted as a co-moderator. 

The round table’s main theme was the students’ view on measures to support small and medium-sized businesses under COVID-19 threat. The students discussed the challenges the country’s economy is facing in the current pandemic situation, as well as possible support measures and their impact on further economic development scenarios. A total of 37 2nd and 3rd year students of the Innovation programme presented their reports.

The event was concluded by an online voting to identify the most effective measures to support small and medium-sized businesses, as proposed by the students. The best works will provide a base for theses being prepared for the 28th All-Russian Student Conference ‘Management Problems 2020,’ planned to be held on April 29, 2020.

The round table format helps to identify topical problems and respond to them promptly. Most importantly, such a format for scientific events helps grasp the essence of the emerging problems from different angles, a vital advantage in the training of managerial staff.
