At the presentation, Svetlana Malkarova, Vice-Rector of the State University of Management and Executive Director of the UNESCO Chair ‘Societal, Legal and Ethical Frameworking of Knowledge Societies’, delivered a welcoming speech. She spoke in detail about the main targets pursued by the chair and the work prospects.

UNESCO’s responsibilities cover education, science and culture. Our main goal is to implement several strategic objectives of UNESCO. One of those is educational. You all know that UNESCO’s policy has education for all, regardless of gender, nationality, race, income, as a goal. Any person on Earth should have an opportunity to get an education so that they could find their place in the world and apply their professional skills. The second one is ethical. We must understand what ethical norms should apply in education and the Internet community. These days, we do research and engage globally in all these processes,

says Svetlana Malkarova, Vice-rector of SUM.

Roman Chukov, co-organiser of the UNESCO Model, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Centre for International Promotion Foundation, shared his experience with students and spoke about the upcoming trip to the UN Headquarters in New York, the purpose of which is to participate in the CWMUN-2020 International UN Model.

When you start leaving your comfort zone, meeting people, building contacts, and trying to convey what you think is important, you move on to the next level. This is a very interesting, important process. The point of building many international contacts lies in the fact that you never know who your friends and acquaintances will become, and what you can do for them. Always try to be proactive. I maintain that any initiative is better than inaction,

says Roman Chukov, co-organiser of the UNESCO Model.

During the presentation, students were briefed on the nuances of the game that will have the format of a conference: participants of SMART NATIONS MODEL UNESCO will have to plan their speeches so as to defend not just their own point of view but the position of the country they will be representing.
