SUM to establish the All-Russian Association of eSport Managers to develop the industry

The initiative’s authors believe that the joint efforts of the association’s members will make it possible to solve the problem of the absence of common requirements for competition venues in Russia.

The All-Russian Association of Esport Managers, which will be established by the State University of Management, will accelerate the development of venues for international competitions and create common rules for assessing the level of organisation of games, the SUM press service told TASS on Friday.

The State University of Management regularly, which acts as a platform for inter-university eSport championships, intends to initiate the creation of the Russian association of managers in the field of eSports. The association will operate as a platform for the development of initiatives to introduce common standards for the organisation of championships and tournaments in Russia as well as to improve legislation in the field of player training. The association’s participants will be industry leaders from game organisers of different levels, active players and representatives of universities and schools that train players and managers in this field,

SUM told TASS.

The initiative’s authors believe that the joint efforts of the association’s members will make it possible to solve the problem of the absence of common requirements for competition venues in Russia, including for the equipment used. In addition to organisational issues, the association’s members will initiate the development of federal legislation that would, for example, establish rules for the transfer of players.

In 2020, SUM will admit the first students to the educational programme (bachelor’s degree) on training managers for eSports. According to experts from SUM, the demand for specialists to organise team training and games, guide the processes of interaction between professional communities and those involved in other areas of eSport management in Russia will be 4,00–5,000 people by 2025.
