SUM’s Digital Projects at the All-Russia Science Festival NAUKA 0+

The State University of Management unveiled its latest digital projects at the 14th All-Russian Festival of Science NAUKA 0+ that took place in Moscow on 11–13 October 2019.

SUM’s Digital Economy and High Technologies project laboratory presented its flagship I See You project at the NAUKA 0+ Festival. The solution is based on a neural network that helps recognise people’s emotional state and its changes.

The basis of the recognition technology lies in complex algorithms, with a computer analysing almost a billion parameters of a human face. The system uses a database containing hundreds of thousands of emotions such as sadness, joy, calm and boredom.

The I See You project can be applied both in customer service in the business to assess consumer satisfaction and in education, using students’ faces showing involvement or, on the contrary, boredom as an indicator of a teacher’s performance.

Next step for SUM’s project laboratory is the development of an algorithm to identify people by their unique body movements and gait. The solution will help law enforcement authorities implement crime prevention measures.

As a digital university, SUM is working at the frontline of state-of-the-art science. The latest digital technologies unveiled by the State University of Management at the prestigious NAUKA 0+ Festival constitute the University’s significant contribution to the implementation of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation National Programme.

The 14th All-Russian Festival of Science NAUKA 0+ was organised by the Government of Moscow, represented by the city’s Department of Education and Science, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Festival encompassed more than 100 venues. Its speakers included more than 50 renowned national and international scientists and three Nobel Prize winners. Both Mikhail Kotyukov, Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education, took part in the Festival.
